Passion FlowerΒ is native to the Americas, and was introduced later to Europe. In both regions, this perennial climbing vine holds a long and celebrated history in theΒ herbal medicine tradition.
Passion FlowerΒ is known first and foremost for its potency as anΒ anxiety relieving herb. However, much like valerian, it is also remarked upon due to itsΒ anti-hysteric and anti-insomnia effects.
Passion Flowerβs efficacy is thought to be due at least in part toΒ a rise in GABAΒ (gamma aminobutyric acid) levels within the brain triggered by consumption of the herb.
