UNDERCOVER 1999年春夏コレクション、通称RELIEF期のオーバーダイコートになります。当時の高橋盾氏の思想と美学が凝縮された、まさに"着る芸術"と言えるでしょう。
RELIEF期は、既存の衣服を一度解体し、再構築することで新たな形を見出すという、非常にコンセプチュアルなアプローチで知られています。このオーバーダイコートも例外ではありません。一見するとシンプルなデザインに見えますが、全体に施されたオーバーダイ加工によって、生地の奥からヴィンテージのような深みと奥行きが生まれています。
縫製されたディテールやパーツの跡が、まるで浮き彫りのように浮かび上がっています。かつてそこにあったであろうポケットやベルト、ダーツの痕跡が、オーバーダイによって強調され、まるで服の記憶を物語っているかのようです。
これは、高橋盾が当時の社会やファッションに対する問いかけを込めたメッセージであり、着用する者に、服が持つ歴や物語、そして創造性への敬意を促します。

This is an over-dyed coat from UNDERCOVER's Spring/Summer 1999 collection, famously known as the "RELIEF" era. It can truly be called "wearable art," condensing the philosophy and aesthetic of Jun Takahashi at that time.

The RELIEF period is known for its highly conceptual approach: dismantling existing garments and reconstructing them to discover new forms. This over-dyed coat is no exception. While it may appear simple at first glance, the overall over-dye treatment creates a vintage-like depth and richness from within the fabric.

The traces of stitched details and parts emerge like a relief (embossment). The remnants of what might have once been pockets, belts, and darts are emphasized by the over-dyeing, as if narrating the garment's memory.

This piece is a message from Jun Takahashi, imbued with his critique of society and fashion at the time, encouraging the wearer to appreciate the history, stories, and creativity inherent in clothing.
