Who are the "Holy Souls" or "Poor Souls" and why should we pray for them? According to the Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church, after a person dies there may be a need for a “final purification” (CCC 1031) if the soul died "in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified”. This purification is necessary so that the soul can “achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven” (CCC 1030). We know that these souls have died in God's Grace and will eventually go to heaven, but for a temporary period they undergo purification. During this time the souls can benefit greatly from the prayers of the Church militant here on Earth. Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich experienced a vision where she saw souls in purgatory move from darkness towards the light as she prayed for them.
This rosary bracelet was designed to aid those who wish to offer special prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The shades of grays, white, and black remind us of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich's words and how helpful our prayers can be. Made with a stretch cord for comfortable wear, the beautiful marbled Agate beads are paired with Black Swarovski Crystals. The sections are separated by decorative cross beads and the centerpiece features an Italian medal with St. Michael the Archangel on one side and the traditional image of a Guardian Angel guiding children across a bridge on the other.
