GorbioΒ is a village in Southern France, where S.H. Raza resided for many years during his stay in France (1950s β 2010). InΒ Gorbio, the mountains, woods, olive trees, plants, flowers, and the stones are an intrinsic part of the environment, and they stimulated Raza's mind. This piece, loosely done in gestural brushwork depicts the foot of a hillside, with the roofs of burnt orange tiles scattered across the wilderness, and those with white stone crowning the hills in the ancient village ofΒ Gorbio.
