

This work stages a ceremonious encounter where the bull, crowned with striped horns and jeweled trappings, becomes both icon and participant—an embodiment of rural pride elevated to pageantry. The composition balances the stoic handler’s anchored stance against the musicians’ rhythmic gestures, so that sound feels almost visible in the taut diagonals of reins, drum, and wind instrument. Saturated turquoises, saffrons, and carmines flare against an earthen ground, suggesting tradition as something continually renewed—vivid, communal, and defiantly alive. Beneath the festive surface, the painting reads as a meditation on guardianship and belonging, where adornment is not excess but a language of identity.
