This work stages a flower as a ceremonial sun, its scalloped petals banded in ember-red and umber lines that read like topography—mapping sensation as much as form. The incandescent, stippled center radiates outward, while the dotted petal motifs create a quiet cadence that turns ornament into pulse, suggesting fertility, time, and recurrence. At the lower edge, the blue, feather-like intrusion introduces a counterweight of coolness and fragility, as if a nocturnal visitor or talisman has drifted into the bloom’s heat, complicating the image with tenderness and suspense against the shadowed, patterned ground.
