After the death of her first husband, Susannah resided at Stourhead, the family seat, with her father. Wearing a widow's cap, she is dressed in half-mourning with a pink silk gown lined with delicate black ruffles.
Both pendant portraits, that of Susannah and her father, retain their original, matching gilt-wood frames decorated with curving leaves that culminate in c-shaped scrolls.
