This brass plaque depicts a striding Hanuman, who is holding in his hand the medicinal plant Sanjeevani, which will cure Lakshman, who has been wounded on the field of battle. These plaques were worn around the neck of itinerant mendicants or pilgrims. The plaque is from Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh and also has a multiheaded protective cobra above Hanumanβs head. On either side of the cobra on this highly detailed piece are small parakeets. A metal stand has been specifically made for this piece to be displayed.
The size of the plaque is 6 x 1.5 x 6.75 inches without the base. With the base, the size of this piece is 6 x 2 x 7.75 inches.
