Odissi Filigree

Odissi, a classical dance from Odisha, India, is visually stunning, in part because of the traditional silver filigree jewelry worn by the dancers. The jewelry is not just decorative, but an essential part of the costume. Two necklaces, a long one called the lambaharam, and a shorter one called the thiya, are worn. The long necklace with a pendant reaches to the waist, and the short one around the neck, both of them are made with extremely fine silver work.
