Dating back to Mohenjo‑Daro and Harappa, Dhokra has been practiced continuously by tribal metalsmiths, especially in West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The name comes from the “Dhokra‑Damar” tribe renowned for their craftsmanship.
