Gond - Jhulni Chirai

Jhulni Chirai means 'The Sparrow and her Swinging Nest'. The bird creates a nest that, like a monkey, hangs off the tree. This painting depicts a house, the bird’s nest, hanging off a branch. The shape and the size of the nest are unique, exploring the possibilities of many stories about how it was made and what is inside. This stylized painting is Dhavat Singh's take on the interior of the nest, portraying it akin to the interior of a traditional Gond house.
