This is an elaborate kindi/ewer from Karnataka with an elephantβs head as the spout. The ewer is made of both copper and brass using a cast and repousse technique. The kindi has two rings on the top so it could be carried with a chain or rope, and on one side is a brass repousse representation of Lakshmi. On the other end of the ewer to the spout is a brass finial in the shape of a lotus bud. This kind of ewer was used for dispensing water in religious settings and is from the Mysore region. The cap at the top has at some point been lost to time.Β
