With kashmiri kahwa masala chai spiced tea the instructions recomend steeping 2-3 min. i find this a waste of tea since it is not long enough to get flavour. i have found it only worth making if a heaping tablespoon in boiling water is simmered for a minimum of 30 min in 2litres of water. about a third to half the water will evaporate but what is left can simmer all day and a better taste without astringent flavour develops. one cup is never enough so keeping a pot simmering all morning never go
