Schizochytrium is a type of marine algae, grown in controlled crops and contains essential fatty acids for the human body: unsaturated DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosatetraenoic acid).

DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid known for supporting brain health as well as the healthy growth and development of children's, eyes, and nervous system.
EPA is an omega-3 fatty acid that supports cognitive function and has anti-inflammatory effects.
DHA & EPA have been known to treat certain health challenges in children, such as allergies, asthma, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as well as support memory function. They are considered essential fatty-acids as our body cannot product on its own and therefore needs to obtain from food or supplementation.

Getting enough omega-3 fatty acids from food alone can be difficult for children, due to picky appetites and diets filled with processed ingredients. Most children are not getting the recommended daily levels for DHA & EPA(1), although it is essential for neurological and visual development.

Health Canada recommends that children between ages of 1-8 maintain daily EPA and DHA intake of 100–1500 mg/day.(2)
