The factory intake duct is engineered primarily for cabin noise suppression and a subdued driving experience, which imposes inherent constraints on cold air induction capacity. Air enters through only two narrow openings positioned at the front and rear of the duct, restricting overall volumetric flow. At elevated vehicle speeds, the rear-facing inlet draws warm air from the engine bay into the airbox, resulting in increased intake air temperatures. Furthermore, the factory duct features a blocked-off passage directly in front of the airbox and incorporates abrupt internal contours near the air inlet channel—both of which negatively affect air efficiency. These design characteristics render the factory duct suboptimal for performance-oriented driving applications.
