As the name suggests, there are 10holes and each holes produce two sounds by blowing and drawing. So with one harmonica it can produce 10 x 2 = 20 sounds, and covers a range of 3 octaves.

How to select keys
10-hole harmonica is basically chosen by the tone according to the song to be played, but sometimes different tone is chosen.

The way to choose key depends on how players perform.If you want to play a beautiful melody straight, choose the same tone(1st position) as the song, and if you want to get cool ad lib with blues or rock, choose a tone four times higher(2nd position) than the tone of the song
