In Hinduism, Nandi is the name of the bull who serves as the mount (Vahana) and gatekeeper of Lord Shiva and Parvati. All over India, temples dedicated to Shiva generally have a seated Nandi displayed at the entrance. This pooja pedestal features a Nandi on an elaborately carved base. A mouse is seated at the front of the base, and the front left foot of the base is missing.
