Her explorations led her deeper and deeper, until she finally chanced upon a clearing. Shed heard that it had been the site of a wildfire a few months ago, which explained the charred tree stumps. As she held the wood, it stained her hands with a sooty blackness. She slipped a small piece into her pocket and headed back home.
