Parikrama: Ganesha

This artwork captures the essence of Parikrama or Pradakshina, i.e. a clockwise circumambulation of sacred entities. The circular path created with 11 strokes (parikrama) forms the head of Lord Ganesha. The mantra inscribed in the artwork is:
वक्रतुंड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा

It translates to:
Vakratund Mahakay, Suryakoti Samaprabh
Nirvighnam Kuru Me Dev, Sarvakaryeshu Sarvada

The meaning of the words is:
Salutations to Lord Ganesha who has a curved trunk, large body and the magnificence of a million suns. Make the undertakings free of obstacles by extending your blessings in all my work.
