The Micropia series of layered drawings are Sukanya Garg’s sub-conscious renderings around the theme of ‘Every Scar Has a Story’. The works are associative in the sense that they speak of her own journey as well as of people she has known and continues to encounter. The cellular visual imagery echoes of the biological, psychological and metaphysical processes that come to define us from within. The process of burning holes in one layer of paper to see what lies below, is symbolic of un-layering the multiple layers that cloud our innermost beings, and the simple yet painstakingly perseverant act of unravelling (for others) or shedding (for self) these layers, helps us come closer to our own selves as well as others.
