The work stages a quiet confrontation between repetition and rupture: three near-identical soldiers, flattened into a sepia-like register, become a mechanized chorus of vigilance, while the peacock in the foreground arrives as an insolent, living anomaly. Muted greens and tarnished ochres press the space into a claustrophobic poster-field, yet the bird’s crisp patterning and pale breast pull focus with almost ceremonial dignity, turning the militarized backdrop into mere scaffolding. In this collision of iconographies—weapon, uniform, plumage—the piece suggests how beauty survives as both witness and provocation, a fragile sovereignty moving through a landscape of enforced sameness.
