Puja Table with Parakeet Legs

This Puja Table with exquisite carvings on the top, is a rare find from Tamil Nadu. An old collectible, it is made of brass, cast using the repoussé or relief-work technique, which involves hammering the material against a mold to give it a raised appearance and then carving details on the surface by hand. The piece is a trivet, which means it is mounted on three legs. The legs of the table are decorated with exquisitely carved parakeets (a species of parrots). The piece is in good condition, having undergone normal time related wear.
