"Maati ka bartan hai pyaare, maati mein mil jaana ha"...
Humans and the matki, both eventually return to Mother Earth at the end of their lives. This artwork is part of the 'Maati' series, which depicts human emotions while highlighting the humble βmatkiβ (earthen pots made of maati or mud), as the hero. Drawing parallels between βusβ and the matki, the artist has portrayed different facets of human life in this series of artworks.
We're all responsible for how we react in a given situation, and our individual experiences dictate our behaviour. While the two artworks in this pair bear a resemblance to one another, there are also obvious differences - with one bearing a squarish shape while the other is more circular. The artist emphasizes that while we may come from the same strand, same family or same country, our personalities and outlooks could be different. The key is to coexist side by side, in harmony.
Each artwork measures 15.5 x 15.5 inches. With the frame, the size of each piece is 18 x 17.5 inches.
