This work stages a fragmented, mask-like visage in cool indigo against a field of incandescent pinks, as if the self is trying to cohere while the world vibrates around it. Sharp, black, calligraphic fissures score the surface like cracks in stone or memory, turning the portrait into an archaeological site of emotion—assembled, broken, and reassembled again. The frontal gaze feels both present and withheld, suggesting endurance rather than serenity, while the surrounding vertical forms echo the face as specters of alternate identities. In the tension between luminous ground and bruised figure, the painting becomes a meditation on visibility: how we are illuminated, and how we protect what remains unspoken.
