This is a reverse glass painting from southern India.
Infant Krishna is shown seated on a jewelled throne with his right hand holding a ball of butter, and his left hand on the armrest. Krishna, naked but for his sumptuous jewellery, sits in a hall defined by pillars and a floral garland hanging from the ceiling. As always, Krishna is portrayed as a chubby child, a part of his hair tied in a topknot, adorned by jewels and the characteristic peacock feather. Unusual for this genre, he is depicted in blue. He is flanked by two elegantly dressed and bejewelled attendants, one ready to hand him more butter, while the other stands holding a parrot. In the foreground is a capacious bowl filled with fruit.
