This is an old Mysore School painting of Lord Krishna, sitting in his mother Yashoda's lap. A parrot gently rests on Yashoda's right hand. Krishna, the God of love and compassion, is the eighth incarnation of Vishnu, but is worshipped in his own right. He has always been one of the most popular deities in Southern India and hence, is frequently depicted in paintings of classical traditions. There is some loss of colour on parts of the artwork due to passage of time.
