Ram Vanvas Lithograph, Original Print

This rare and evocative lithograph, produced by the Ravi Udaya Vijaya Press in Ghatkopar and published by Rai Bahadur Anant Shivaji Desai, Moti Bazar, Mumbai, depicts the significant meeting between Lord Ram and Sugriva, the monkey king, during the Ramayana. This pivotal moment marks the beginning of a crucial alliance formed in the Kishkindha Kanda, where Lord Ram and Sugriva join forces in the quest to rescue Sita from the demon king Ravana.

Lord Ram is portrayed in a tranquil yet commanding stance, holding his bow and exuding divine grace. His younger brother, Lakshman, stands beside him, ever vigilant and steadfast in his role as protector. In front of them is Sugriva, shown with a gesture of respect and devotion, surrounded by his loyal Vanara (monkey) companions, including Hanuman, who would later become one of Ram’s greatest devotees and warriors.
