'Akbari' sari is made in Varanasi silk brocade andΒ drawn from the flora and fauna motifs seen in Persian carpets. It is woven using the elaborate Kadwa technique featuring zari in the negative spaces to give the textile a smooth finish and also to avoid float (irregular threads) on the reversible size of the textile.
Blouse worn by the model is not included.
Natural variations in colours and weave are part of the textile, as it is handwoven.
