βAlamsatiβ sari in red Varanasi silk brocade draws from velvet textile archives of the Ottoman empire. Speaking to the Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb of the Awadh, the floral motifs are woven with gold and silver zari - using the elaborate Kadwa technique where each motif is woven individually utilizing an extra weft insertion, and the reverse of the textile reveals the absence of thread floats. The sari is finished with facing.
This handwoven textile reflects natural variations within yarn, color, weave and/or embroidery.
Blouse is not included.
