Chitrakatha — Hand Block Kalamkari Kurta

Every inch of this kurta has something to say.

Chitrakatha is made in authentic Kalamkari — one of India's oldest textile traditions, where artisans draw and print directly onto cotton using hand-carved blocks and natural dyes. The name means "picture story," and that's exactly what you wear when you put this on.

The front body carries a large central motif — a mythological bird surrounded by fine floral and leaf work in deep red and cream. The yoke is a small leaf-repeat in red. The sleeves tell a different story altogether — blue, pink and cream figures, elephants, and intricate florals in classic Kalamkari panels. Three patterns, one kurta, everything in conversation with everything else.

The fabric is pure cotton — soft, breathable, and made to be worn all day. The silhouette is straight and relaxed, falling to the calf. Simple neckline, wide 3/4 sleeves. The print is the design.

Wear it with white churidars and flat sandals for the most complete look. Or with slim trousers for the office. Kalamkari belongs everywhere.
