Brishti — Handwoven Ikat Cotton Dress

Rain in Bengal comes at an angle. So do the colours in Brishti.

Woven in handloom Ikat cotton, this dress carries the craft's signature — resist-dyed yarn, woven on the loom, creating those unmistakable feathered chevrons and horizontal stripes that blur at the edges. Red, orange, mustard, teal — running in bold bands from neckline to hem, with the Ikat zigzag most vivid at the yoke and the flounce tier below.

This is not a print. It is a weave. Every stripe was made on the loom, thread by thread, before a single stitch of the dress was cut.

The silhouette is relaxed and generous: a V-neckline with a full-length button placket, three-quarter sleeves, and a tiered A-line body that drops into a wide flounce hem. Knee to midi length. Made to move in. Made to be noticed.

Wear it with flat sandals and sunglasses on any day that deserves some colour.
