Offering a realistic as well as representational appeal, this is a unique miniature painting. It features Mughal Emperor Jahangir and Shah Abbas I of Persia in a friendly embrace signifying peace amidst the two rulers. They are standing on top of what appears to be the globe and at their feet rests a lion and lamb. There is a bright sun halo behind them carried by angels. This painting is a typical example of the influence of European Art in Mughal Paintings.
The process of painting on old paper as in this particular work, is a complicated one, where the page, taken from an old book, is first cleaned and then painted upon.
