In Hinduism, Nandi is the name of the bull who serves as the mount and gatekeeper of Lord Shiva and Parvati. All over India, temples dedicated to Shiva generally have a seated Nandi displayed at the entrance. Made of brass, this figure of Nandi is from Northern Karnataka.
