Dear Diary,
After nearly a week in my new neighbourhood, I lost my way! Mumbai is truly a city of paradoxes. The tall Colonial buildings, the bustling fishing villages, the wide streets, the narrow by-lanes, the tall glass facades, the tiny chawls - no two neighbourhoods look completely alike, and strangely, somehow every apartment in a building looks exactly the same. Its intimidating to gaze up at the sky and for your eyes to be met by row upon row of glass and concrete. I feel so small, so dwarfed and yet, somehow, liberated. I can blend into any crowd, be anyone, be someone and the city will accept me. It will give me refuge, it will be my harbour, it will contain me, and it will liberate me. But in the meanwhile, I have to get better at reading Google Maps!
