Nandi Inkwell

This is an unusual, brass Nandi inkwell on wheels from North Karnataka. The Nandi detailing includes numerous processional ornaments including chains of bells and other decorations. The cap of the inkwell is a shiva lingam that slides back in order to fill the ink. Nandi is the sacred bull calf, gatekeeper, and vehicle (vahana) of the God Shiva.
