This artwork is part of the 'Camouflage' series by Anisha Koshy, in which she is captivated by the textures, forms, and colours of different creatures from different environments and how they seamlessly blend with one another. The artist believes that every living thing is artistically designed by the Master Artist, and her hands simply aim to reflect the Handiwork of God, acknowledging that the life of every creature resides in His hands.
The Pink Cockatoo is an endangered Bird which was a common figure featured in 18th century European paintings. These birds were considered exotic commodities and used as decorative pieces.Β
In this piece, the artist has painted a portrait of a Pink Cockatoo Parrot surrounded by trumpet shaped βAmaryllisβ. It looks as though the flowers are singing to the exotic being. This shows how winged birds can camouflage with the flowers of the field.
