Rosewood Jewellery Box with Brass Trim 01

This sleek rosewood and brass-bound jewellery box is from Kerala. All the edges of the box are bound in brass, and the lid has beautiful decorative brass inlay on the four corners and in the centre. On the sides are ornate recessed brass handles. Inside the box there are two compartments with hinged lids, as well as a central open compartment. Inside the lid of the box are wooden struts that would allow letters to be stored behind. The key has been lost at some time in its life.
