This monochrome watercolor dissolves the animal’s body into a field of drifting marks, as if the figure is both emerging from and returning to its own camouflage. The dense constellation of spots creates a vibrating surface tension, while the deeper washes along the left edge anchor the composition like a shadow of presence, giving weight to what is otherwise fleeting.
