This work comprises of symbols derived from Laxmanβs involvement in socialist circles and the activist spirit. For instance, the raised hands at the top of the drawing symbolise seeking liberation, communal unity, solidarity, and the human spirit striving for freedom. The fauna forms such as the rooster and owl embody the rustic belief system for life and death.
Laxman used African masks and stylised figures emphasising the ancestry that evokes native cultural identity, whereas the yogic meditative posture embodies introspection and inner peace amid the complexity. Throughout the composition, intertwined hands and arms convey creation, cooperation, and the struggle between self and the other. The contrast of black and white resembles life and death, light and shadow, order and chaos; reinforcing exploration of balance, coexistence, and the interconnected nature of
existence.
