Oleograph of 'Ganesha with Riddhi and Siddhi' by Raja Ravi Varma from the early 1900s. Ganesha, also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka, is the god of wisdom, bestower of favours, giver of success in all undertakings and the remover of obstacles. He is depicted embracing his two beloved consorts, Riddhi (abundance, prosperity) and Siddhi (success, good luck). Ganesha is adorned with a bejewelled crown with peacock feathers, jewellery and is also shaded by a parasol. On either side of him are two female attendants with fly-whisk fans. Ganesha is represented as having four arms. Two arms embrace his consorts while the remaining two hold the noose (pasha) and goad (ankusha).
