A hand-tufted carpet in grey wool with embossed texture, the surface raised in low relief across the pile. Embossed carpets work without pattern in the traditional sense β the design reads as texture rather than motif, the pile height varied to create dimensional surface that catches light differently than flat or uniform pile. Grey works as neutral anchor, the colour reading cool or warm depending on what's around it. Tufting builds pile by punching yarn into a backing and finishing from above, the embossed effect achieved by varying pile height across the field. Woven in Bhadohi or Mirzapur by artisans working hand-tufting looms in the Uttar Pradesh tradition. The embossed surface suits interiors where the floor needs weight and texture without pattern β particularly in rooms with strong wall colour or furniture that already carries ornament.
