Antarman explores the theme of the synthesis of opposite dimensions and the union that ensues in the form of liberation or an inner awakening. The visual imagery of the artwork draws inspiration from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika text, which speaks of the practice of Hatha Yoga to attain βSamadhiβ state or oneness of mind. The union of the solar (yang) or lunar (yin) energies of the body is symbolic of the coalescence of the atman (self) with the Brahman (universe). Using the visual language of cellular biology to create iterations of the crescent moon, the work is symbolic of the luminosity of finding our own inner voice, our own self-realization. The artist hs chosen to work with Bandhani as it emulates the form of a human cell which informs the visual language of her practice. The gold of the Zardozi adds the element of luminosity.
