Lord Vishnu is also known as Srinivasa, a Sanskrit name that translates to ‘the abode of goddess Lakshmi’. Srinivasa is worshipped as Lord Vishnu’s incarnate who resides in the hills of Tirumala to emancipate mankind from the perpetual hardships of Kali Yuga (Kalyug). Srinivasa Perumal is seen standing, with a pair of hands holding the characteristic ‘Shankha’ (conch) and ‘Sudarshana Chakra’ (disc) in the back. The right hand in the front is seen in Varadamudra (known as the boon-granting pose), while the left hand is seemingly placed on top of the mace.
