There is a version of the Chobi carpet that works in abundance β pattern everywhere, no space unfilled. And then there is this: a warm ivory field, the colour of old parchment or unspun wool, across which three large flowering forms are placed on curling vines, each bloom a different colour β red, teal, amber β with smaller flowers and leaves moving between them, unhurried. The composition has a generosity that looser carpets rarely achieve.
The border circles it in deep red with gold accents, a decision that brings everything into focus without overpowering the delicacy of what it contains. Hazara-woven in Kabul, wool on cotton, each knot placed by hand.
