




Theyyam is a popular ritual form of worship of supernatural beings or divine ancestral spirits, in the North Malabar region of Kerala, India. People in the region consider Theyyam itself as a God. Theyyam incorporates dance, mime and music and there are over 400 different forms of Theyyams performed,Β in front of shrines, without a stage, by persons belonging to the Vannan, Malayan and other related castes.Β Β
This is an old collectible, and hence, there is some loss of paint on the wooden figurine. The height of 9 inches is with the wooden base.
