

This work stages a quiet collision between the monumental and the everyday: a carved, column-like figure rises with devotional gravity while a weathered train carriage slices across it, turning transit into an almost mythic passage. The composition hinges on a strong vertical spine interrupted by a blue horizontal band, a cross-like tension that reads as both containment and rupture, while the warm, grainy surface keeps everything tethered to memory and material. Muted reds and bruised blues carry the patina of use, suggesting education, travel, and aspiration as layered strataβpublic narratives that scrape against private faith. In the soft, lantern-like glow at the base, industry and ornament briefly reconcile, as if the cityβs machinery were lit by an older, more ceremonial light.
