The Laghari kilim works in horizontal bands β the most elemental format in flat-weave β but uses that simplicity as a frame for tremendous variety within each stripe. This piece runs in deep reds: a red field dominant across alternating horizontal bands, each band carrying its own geometric motif β diamond medallions, chevrons, small geometric flowers β so that the eye moves along the length of the kilim finding something new in every register.
The outermost border is a structured band of geometric repeat that anchors the whole. Wholly wool, flat-woven in Herat by Turkmen craftspeople. A piece that rewards both distance β where the stripes make their full impression β and close attention.
