The work is inspired by the Pagan belief around the winter solstice in which the moon (feminine) would give birth to the sun (masculine). The title is inspired by Sukanya Gargβs own experience of the moonβs alchemy. During days of intense pain, she often found herself meditating on the moon. Sitting under the night sky, she would wonder how a simple circle on the nightβs surface was able to break through the darkness and illuminate the world. It made her see pain is the context of healing, darkness in the context of light, and the harmony of opposites to create a whole.
