Oleograph depicting Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, the 24th Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. He ruled from 1894 until his death in 1940, and at the time of his death, he was one of the world's wealthiest men. He was popularly called "Rajarshi” meaning "the sage king" - a name given to him by Mahatma Gandhi for his administrative reforms and achievements. The artwork depicts a portrait of the ruler with his wife, Maharani Pratapa Kumari Devi of Kathiawar, supposedly from their wedding day. The Maharaja is seen wearing the famous Mysore pearls and the Maharani is wearing a nine-yard saree in the traditional Mysore style.
