Marapachi Dolls (Pair) - 02

These are wooden, hand-carved, Marapachi dolls from Andhra Pradesh. These were traditionally displayed during the Golu festival in South India as part of Navaratri celebrations. Marapachi are presented in the home on tier shelves, and friends and neighbours invited to visit to view the displays. These dolls come in pairs, usually a man and a woman, and the children of the house dress them up at festival time. 
Size of the male doll is 13.5 (H) x 4.5 (W) x 1.5 (D) inches and the size of the female doll is 13 (H) x 5 (W) x 1.5 (D) inches.
